Abdifatah Afrah is the Executive Director of Language Access Providers (LAP), bringing a wealth of experience in interpretation, education, and community service. Born in Somalia and raised in Kenya, he made Maine his home in 2010. Abdifatah spent approximately five years with the Lewiston School Department, contributing significantly to the education sector.
With over a decade of experience in interpretation, Abdifatah is a Licensed Interpreter Trainer, passionate about facilitating effective communication across linguistic barriers. His commitment to professional development led him to earn a bachelor's degree in Mental Health and Human Services from the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA).
Currently pursuing an MBA at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), Abdifatah combines his educational background with practical experience. His extensive work in mental health case management, particularly with immigrant populations, reflects a dedication to enhancing the well-being of diverse communities.
Beyond his professional roles, Abdifatah is an active community member, engaging with various levels of society to foster inclusivity and understanding.
